Welcome to my blog! I am a Christmas Warrior for Maribel. I'm trying to raise $1,000 for her and hopefully find little Maribel a forever family. Please join me in this amazing journey, as I collect donations and sell homemade items for 3 year old Maribel.

Life as we know it

Yesterday, me and my family went to the Cobb theater in Florida, which is a pretty expensive movie theater. The only reason we went is because a friend of ours, got a deal on the tickets, so a group of people (over 50 people) from our church went to see the new movie, The Chronicles or Narnia 3. But, the tickets were for 3D, so then it costs a little more. The movie was great, everyone loved it and we had a BLAST! But I was just thinking, the tickets were about $8.00 each. And I didn't see one person there alone, which means there were families.... families like us, who spent $40 just to see the movie. Plus, all of the other stuff like drinks, popcorn, candy etc. So we spent, probably 70 dollars total that day. And so did a lot of other families and couples too. So, when we see someone post something about a child maybe on RR that needs donations for him or her's grant, why do we think, wow, 70 dollars would be a lot to give to this child, let me lower that amount. When we just spent, that same amount of money, on our selves, on food and drinks that only last for 2 hours, on one little movie that you can always wait to rent  out on DVD. If you wanted to donate to a child in need, and you were only going to give maybe 5 or 10 dollars, that's okay, you may not have that much money to give, but when yo know that you have that money, and you know that you are suppose to give at least $50, and you think, no, this ONE child doesn't NEED that. You remember how much you could spend in one day, on one movie, for YOU. And that life isn't about spending a bunch of money for YOU or going and using the last bit of money you have on something for YOURSELF, life is about God, and God wants us to give. He wants us to sacrifice some of our money we have, and give it to someone in need. I bet, that with everyone in that theater, if they all put their money they used on the movie toward a child on RR, that would be a 720 dollar donation. AMAZING.

  2. I really do get what you are saying. I've been thinking a lot today about things like - do I really need a new shirt or CD for Christmas? I look at the picture of sweet Maribel and just want to hold her. She is so precious! I've been praying for her.
Genesis, you have been used by the Lord to change my heart. You'll never know how much..... there's been a lot of hurt the last few years. But now there is love for these sweet little ones.
Oh and I've decided NO I don't need that new CD. Maribel needs her forever family. So, I'll be giving another gift for her. And, NO I don't need a new shirt.... well, maybe later, when your mom sells T-shirts as a fundraiser for Gavin.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know this stuff. And {HUGS} to you!
